Description:
  1. The City is seeking Proposals from qualified Proponents to provide the following:

Supply and Delivery of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Guelph Fire Department (GFD)

SCBA units allow the firefighter to breathe, work and communicate in a potentially toxic atmosphere that would otherwise be perilous to health and safety. Emergencies, such as structure fires, vehicle fires and hazardous materials release, all contain elements of smoke, fire and chemical compounds. An SCBA unit protects the firefighter by allowing the user a supply of clean, breathable air while performing rescue and hazard mitigation activities. The SCBA is integral to the firefighter’s personal protective equipment (PPE) ensemble.

Current GFD SCBA units were purchased in 2014. The units are maintained and regularly tested by a third-party agency. GFD maintains an inventory of 265 cylinders, 60 SCBA units, 170 assigned facepieces and 52 mask-mounted thermal imaging cameras approaching end-of-life, along with the SCBA units. The proposed equipment and overall solution must meet or exceed the testing criteria set out by current NFPA-1981 and NFPA-1982 standards.

  2. The City is seeking Proposals from Responsible Proponents that have the necessary qualifications and experience to provide the Services sought.
